1960s Silvertone 1427 Espanada Harmony H63 Vintage Guitar W/ Gibson P13 Pickups:
Up for sale, an early 1960s Silvertone 1427 "Espanada" archtop in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. These guitars were manufactured by Harmony additionally branded "H63" and simply "Espanada" and very rarely come up for sale. Featuring a pair of Gibson made P-13 pickups, (which are overwound single coils that predate the P-90), this guitar delivers classic 1950s jazz, rockabilly, and jump blues tones with an authenticity and tonal richness that can't be beat! Professionally setup with low action and a fresh set of 11-50 strings, this guitar is ready for the stage and studio. The neck shape on all the Espanada's we've ever had the privilege of playing are strikingly similar; easily one of the most consistent neck profiles on any vintage guitar! The medium C profile has just enough depth to feel substantial, but still slim enough for playing quick and complex passages with ease. Almost splitting the difference between a D and C profile with a slightly flatter section in the center of the profile for the thumb to sit comfortably and perfectly rounded edges leading up to the fretboard. The headstock sports the original Silvertone metal logo, stock open back nickel tuning machines with lollipop buttons and the original nut. The original fretwire has been professionally dressed and crowned, with plenty of height left and currently showing almost no wear. The back of the headstock did at one time suffer a very faint fracture that is now nearly imperceptible. Glued and clamped long ago, this fracture can just barely be made out in photo #6 and is perfectly stable. As is usually the case with headstock breaks of this nature, they're actually more stable after the repair than before the break occurred! Both of the stock P-13 pickups sound absolutely stunning, and it's easy to see why these pickup sets alone easily command $600+. A fairly dark sounding P-90 variant, these pickups can still deliver plenty of twang and top end through the right blackface Fender and are incredibly dynamic pickups with great note clarity. Not to mention that the P-13's are just about the coolest looking pickup that Gibson ever dreamed up, with "speed bump" nickel covers and transparent pickup surrounds with a thin layer of white paint on the bottom to really make them "pop". All of the original hardware is intact, including the rare pickguard. The black nitro lacquer finish is 100% original and checks out under a black light with no touchups or overspray. Cosmetically, the guitar is very clean and well cared for, with a few tiny nicks around the edges, some faint buckle rash on the back and one tiny piece of binding at the end of the bass side of the fretboard that has been replaced (photo #11).Don't miss out on this rare 1960s Silvertone Espanada by Harmony with Gibson wound P-13 pickups!A form-fit vintage hardshell case is included. Please feel free us directly with any questions at 206.818.9329.
