1962 Vintage Gibson A5 Mandolin, Jethro Burns, Rare:
1962 Gibson A 5 mandolin. Rare 'double point' model. All original. As played by mando master, Jethro Burns of Homer and Jethro. Classic cherry sunburst with fading on top making the red fade into almost an 'iced tea burst' as seen on vintage Les Pauls. Overall great condition, ready to play, great volume and tone. Fairly moderate fret wear, still plays good but you'll want to address this at some point. Scroll on headstock broken and repaired, top sinking in a little (see pic) at bridge but still structurally sound. Lots of little nicks and dings, pick scratches at sound hole (see pic) but no cracks or structure issues. Area at neck heel (see pic) where binding and finish shows a 'break' but I think it could be more of a shrinkage issue as it does not look like a full crack, is very solid and shows no repair marks. I've seen similar marks at neck heels that haven't been a concern. Really nice figuring on the maple back as you can see. These are pretty rare pieces (just check for another one, I'll wait) so be sure to check this one out. Includes newer tweed hardshell case.
