A true fingerstyle dream, this venerable opus of a guitar will challenge and goad the best and the brightest providing no limit to expression. With this fine instrument in hand, you are the only limitation: a profound assurance for the creative musician simply because it will always be faster that you are, hands down.
As some of the proof of that, please take a look at the photos and find the one that shows a depth gaugeon the low E strings. Its at 4/32\", well under the general 5 mm low/fast standard. The high E side measured at just under 3/32\". Both measurements were taken at standard E tuning. It is a very fast 12 string and has not had had and needs no neck reset. Far from it. It has a fantastic action. Aged to perfection, it sounds wonderful: big, never boomy, and elicits very complex harmonic upper frequency overtones. Very sweet and full.
Purchased in September of 1965, by the record, this serial 204864 was completed in February the same year by C. F. Martin Co. Only one owner for 52 years. It has had good good care and maintenance. In 2003, the normal, aged related, bout and back grain splits were stabilized by the luthiers at the Folklore Center here in Prescott, AZ.

Condition:This Martin model D 12 -20 has been played and has had a life that included the occasional bump and scrape that were attended to. The non-player side tuner strip has been replaced with a good Stewart MacDonald piece after the the original was compromised. The appearance is handsome as you can see. Fret wear is low as the frets have always been kept polished to minimize such normal wear. Recommend .010 to .047 string set to preserve this great low action.
