1967 Mexican Folk Art 2 Plaster Figures Day Of The Dead Pair Gold Paint:
The tallest one is approximately 9 ¼ inches tall and the base is 2 ½ inches in diameter. The colors are more intense in the brightly lit out of door images than how they appear unlighted indoors with natural sunlight. Not sure if they are painted terracotta or plaster. My mother bought these in Mexico City in 1967. They are probably Day of the Dead figures. They are in flawless condition. The heads are attached by a wire. The figure with the miter hat -the head appears to be somewhat detached from its body—it does not move. The figure in the cape—its head moves back and forth a bit. Neither head is loose nor could it fall off. There are no chips, cracks etc. A few manufacturing flaws as these are hand crafted and to be expected. The gold paint is still bright although the pink and purple colors are faded and irregular in areas. This pair is the real deal when collection authentic Mexican folk art.
