1970s St Ives Pottery~Janet Leach Bottle Vase~signed with two/both marks~Superb:

Here is a superb Janet Leach bottle vase. Measurements: 4 ½” (11.5cm) Height, 3 ¾” (9.5cm) Diameter. An interesting shape. The body of the vase is not precisely circular. It has a hint of square, with rounded-off corners. There are 4 lots of angled lines impressed into the clay. I can imagine these marks are where she used a spatula or similar to flatten the four sides slightly before firing. She must have had fun experimenting with this piece. There are no cracks or restorations to the body of the vase, however there is some damage to the base from when it was removed from the kiln. Despite this, it is almost impossible to see when on display. I took lots of photos from all sides of the vase. Photo No 3 has the damaged base facing the front. As you can see, the damage is fractionally visible but not obvious. Please enlarge the photos.
