Up for sale is this large Jack Daniel\'s Gold Medal bottle in near mint condition. These bottles were made by the Jack Daniel\'s distillery in 1971, as limited edition replicas of the one used by Jack Daniel to celebrate his victory in the whiskey-tasting contest at the 1904 St. Louis World\'s Fair. This heavy glass commemorative bottle measures 10-1/2 inches tall, including glass stopper, and originally held 1/2 gallon of whiskey. The bottle label in heavy black and white enamel reads: JACK DANIEL\'S GOLD MEDAL OLD NO. 7. A paper label on the back of the bottle identifies the bottling number (6), the taster, and the master taster. The bottle comes with its original gold booklet telling the story of the whiskey-tasting in St. Louis and the creation of this commemorative replica bottle.
This bottle is in near mint condition, with no chips, cracks, discoloration, or loss of enamel paint. The cork on the glass stopper is in good condition and fits very snugly into the bottle. The paper strip sealing stopper and bottle is in very good condition. The booklet is in good condition with some wear to corners and to gold finish.
This bottle bears a gold band at the top of the neck identifying the recipient: Major R. A. Hudson / Bottling #6 May 1972.
