1972-d Pegleg Eisenhower Ike Dollar - Circulated But Still Tough (ref-01):
1972-D Peg Leg Eisenhower Dollar
Up for your consideration is this 1972-D PegLeg Eisenhower Dollar. Not necessarilya "tough" coin to find but then, with this listing, you won't have to look now will you?
NEWBIES NOTE: The Peg Leg refers to the lack of serifs on the R in LIBERTY. Some years, this was by design, such as the 1972-S Silver Business Strikes/Proofs, the 1971-S Silver Proofs and the 1976 Type 1 Coins but for 1972 CnClad coins from Denver, all should have had the serifs on the R. The general consensus is that this was caused from die abrasion after a clash. Others feel differently. Regardless, the coins can be challenging to find for your IKE Collection.
This coin is definitely circulated and, in my opinion, would not be a good candidate for certification through either PCGS or NGC due to cost restraints but, its and interesting die state variety to add to your collection.
Die State Varieties include anything that is the result of some action upon the die during the minting process. Of course, this includes clashes such as the Bugs Bunny Franklin Half Dollar or perhaps the Talon Head Eisenhower Dollar or any number of other "named" coins.
The coin you see is the coin you will receive.
