1976 Press Photo Spencer Haywood To Rejoin The Basketball New York Knicks:
template 1976 Press Photo Spencer Haywood to Rejoin the Basketball New York Knicks
This is an original press photo. Spencer Haywood will rejoin the basketball New York Knicks, Eddie Donovan, general manager of the National Basketball Association team, said yesterday. Donovan said Haywood, out for more than a month with shin splints and calcium deposits in his left leg, will work out with the Knicks today. To make room for Haywood, the Knicks plan to place Mo Layton on the injured list. Layton tore a ligament in his right thumb on Sunday, and his hand will be in a cast for the next 2 years. On matters which Bill Russell regards as private or sensitive, he waxes somewhat less garrulous than the Sphinx. So, we never may know whether the night of the Haywood Homecoming, he was reminded of a similar occasion in 1973. Spencer Haywood returned to the Coliseum where, by his own estimation, he "built the franchise," then was treated shabbily by Bill Russell, as evidenced by his being shucked off to the New York Knicks. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 1-9-1976.This vintage photograph is offered for sale as a collectible item and conveys no transfer of copyright.
