This is beautiful silver collector plate that was minted by theGeo. WashingtonMint in 1972 for Mother's Day. It istheir first annual plate, and they used an "Arrangement In Grey and Black #1", by James McNeill Whistler to begin this series of limited editions. It is a Limited Edition of10,000 and is number 2364. It istitledWhistler's Mother, and it commemmorates the 100 anniversary of this most famous piece of artwork.It weighs10 ounces of solid sterling silverand measures 8 inches across. It is marked Sterling on the back. The back of the plate reads: Geo Washington Mint Inc, Copyright 1972, Sterling, Registration # 2364. This collector plate is in excellent condition and is considered circulated. There is some tarnishing and it has developed a fine patina through the years. This plate is still in the originalblack box that is lined with velvet. The plate is in a soft pouch. The Certification and Provenance paperwork and the Geo Washington Mint paperwork is included.
