Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was alive yesterday at New Hope Baptist Church, as clergymen, choirs and politicians praised the civil rights leader and his works at a memorial service on his 50th birthday. The Rev. Dr. C.E. Williams, pastor, said: "The great man of the hour is Dr. Martin Luther King, whose labor shall not be lost, not by the Bakke decision or any other decision. Martin Luther King died like a soldier, lived like a hero, walked like a man, spoke like a god in the fields, in the streets, in church, houses, at airport and on the garbage dump. His life was snuffed out by a coward ... "Phillip L. Burton and Morrie J. Alhadeff received an annual award in Dr. King's name. . Photo is 10” x 8” in size.
