Jr. If the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., were alive today, he would be pushing for "new black professionalism" and "sophisticated confrontation." So speculated Dr. Samuel E. Kelly, special assistant to the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington, during a birthday tribute yesterday to the late black leader who gave eloquence to the struggle fro equal rights. The noon program, sponsored by the Seattle Community College District, filled the First Christian Church, 1632 Broadway. "I am at some pain with what I jocularly call the black jet set," said Kelly in defining new black professionalism. "I have trouble with the tendency to display superficial and outward trapping success." . Photo is 10” x 8” in size.
