In 1989 to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Maple Leaf the Royal Canadian Mint struck a solid 999 Silver Proof $5 Five Dollar coin weighing one ounce of fine silver.
The reverse depicts the Maple Leaf while the obverse has the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
