19C 1ST QUALITY MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURAL GROUP MOTHER & CHILDREN
listing is for a signed 19th century 1st quality Meissen porcelain figural group of a mother and her two children. The piece measures 10 ½ inches or 26.5 cm high, and is 7 inches or 18 cm wide.
The grouping show an intimate scene of a mother seated with her two children. The youngest is in her lap vying for her mother’s attention, as her older brother kneels beside them asking for the same. The figures are in dressed in the late neoclassical style with ruffle embellishments and intricately patterned fabric. The figures have excellent attention detail which is expected of Meissen porcelain. It is marked on the bottom with the crossed swords of Meissen in under glaze blue. There are also some impressed numbers on the bottom "101 51". Please note this figure is first quality Meissen with no hash marks on or near the crossed swords mark.
The porcelain group is in overall good condition; part of the kneeling boy’s foot has been broken at some point in its life, and one of the feathers on the mother’s hat is broken and there are few minor small flakes on the bottom rim. Please see the many photos for more on the look and condition.
