This listing is for an antique French faience art pottery plate featuring the Mongolfies\' hot air balloon at the center. The plate measures 9 1/4 inches or 23.4 cm in diameter and is 1 1/2 inches or 3.8 cm deep. It has a white ground with a slightly scalloped edge; it is further decorated with a green, orange and blue border. At the center is a hot air balloon and its two passengers along with a date \"1783\" commorating the first hot air balloon flight with passengers. It has nice attention to detail throughout, and there is a partial raised pottery mark on the back, but is hard to make out.The condition is very good, there is a craquelure pattern in the white glaze.
