Description:We are pleased to offer this 19th C. Qing [Ching] Dynasty, Chinese, silk, embroidered tri-fold pouch. Throughout East Asia, domestic accessories such as these were oftenembroidered by the women of the household with colorful, auspicious imagery.Small pieces such as these purses would have been hung from a belt to carry small personal items.Characteristics of this piece include the depiction of numerous auspicious rebuses such as a gameboard, bats, fan, lotus blossom, and scrolls just to name a few; breathtaking, vibrantly-hued embroideryrendered in various stitching including silk satin, petit point and decorative; handsome, decorative edgings; and differingfabrics including brocade-woven silk and cotton. The embroideryremains exquisite with no loose threads. Please note, this pouch does show signs of wear commensurate with ageincluding light fading and light soiling.
