19th Century Massive Marine Bone, abalone, mahogany Antique Cane/ Walking Stick.nr For Sale
Today I am offering an AntiqueMaritime Bone/Dentin Handled Massive Walking Stick. Thisis from my Personal Collectionso I am a bit attached but sometimes you have to rotate yourAntique Canes and Walking Sticks in and out of your Collection. At least I do. I have friends and or Clients that have anywhere from 500 to 5,000 canes and walking sticks. One gentleman had built his home to accomodate his collection by having several rooms dedicated to the different genre's of Antique Canes and Walking Sticks. He had the Weapon room, Gadget room, Maritime room/Ivry room, etc, etc. I am a Antique Cane dealer by trade so I keep my collection a lot leaner on inventory as if I were to keep all of the good ones, I would go out of business.....
This is one massive Cane/ Walking Stick. I don't think it is necessarily Sailor made but it is made of the materials that they would use and was probably crafted on the East Coast in the Whling Fleet Ports or near there due to the materials. The OctagonalHandle has the correct grain and the perfect Dark Honey and Cream Patina that can not be faked. Only time and oils from the hand cane make this beautiful Coloration. The shaft appears to be Mahogany and is very heavy as you would expect. It ends with a Bone ferrule that has the correct amount of wear. The shaft also has Abalone triangular inlaid lanyert holes for a wrist strap/ hanger. The Handle ends at a Bleen spacer then Mahogany and back to Bone/Dentin and then Bleen, then the mahogany shaft begins. The Top is inlaid with a Brown and Black Shell Cabacon. Collectors should know what type of shell it is.
Remember this is one of my babies that has been in my personal collection for quite a while so I guarentee you will NOT be disappointed in this beast of a stick.....
This is a VERYIMPORTANT STICK for you to own.
