This antique oak secretary/bookcase features extensive hand carving on drawers and crown.The item was professionally refinished and brought to it\'s original beauty in 1991 by the antique dealer that sold us the item.The only changes in the refinishing process were adding the mirrored back in the bookcase section and five thick glass shelves and new glass in the bookcase door.The brass handles and all brass parts are original and in perfect shape. The beveled mirror above the desk side is original.There are exquisite carvings on desk face and extensive hand carvings on the upper section of the crown.The three drawers and desk move smoothly, are fully functional and are in excellent condition for being 122 years old. The refinishing process left the insides of the drawers in their original appearance, but are clean and slide easily.
