Description:

……The 19th century Russian Icon on Tin was printed using the Zincography process. This process is a Russian printing process using engraved Zinc plates to create lithographs on Tin. The 19thC Russian Icon in this sale is authentic. Measuring 12 1/8“ by 10 1/2“ this Tin Icon is applied over a 1“ thick wood panel, which is coveredon the back with a early cloth. The 9 1/4“ by 7 1/2“ Icon in the center depicts St. George spearing the Dragon. You can see in my photographs that there is wear to the Zincography, especially on the body of St. Michael. It looks like he was touched over and over again for many years. There are no damages or any repairs to this 19th century Russian Tin & Wood Icon and to make sure some er wins it there is !
