DETAILS OF ITEM
This is an antique 19th Century Imari kiln serving plate that measures 7.25 inches in diameter. It was hand painted in blue and white Sometsuke and depicts the three felicitous friends of winter known as Sho Chiku Bai or Pine tree, Bamboo and Plum tree, respectively.
The condition is extremely good especially considering its age from the 1880's to 1890's (mid Meiji era). It is heavy for its size suggesting that it was heavily potted prior to firing in the kiln. It is marked "Fuku" at the base.
