2 V RARE ANTIQUE ZULU CARVED COW BONE HAIR COMBS
I will be selling a very large number of interesting antiques including Tribal art, Chinese, Japanese, and European antiques. I will possibly be selling over two days so please check again on FRIDAY as there may be more pieces for sale. PLEASE NOTE: This sale is in GB Pounds Sterling.
These are two incredible carved beef or mutton bone hair combs dating, I would imagine, to the very early 20th Century and of Southern African origin. The designs are extraordinarily modern and certainly have more than a hint of the Cubist about them. The one to the right of the first photo in particular looks to be directly influenced by Picasso and they were clearly carved by the same hand. They are further decorated with reckitts blue and one of them also has some trace of red dye but most of this has now gone. As with most of my sales I am selling them at a very low start price and with . Stand not included.
Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is here on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for. Condition & Dimensions Excellent condition. Light wear and the tips of the tines bend a little but no damage to either comb.
The longest is about 8.7" / 22cms long.

Postage & Packing For your peace of mind and mine items will be sent fully insured. I will be posting from WEDNESDAY 27TH MARCH so please make payment as early as possible. PLEASE be a little patient with the post - I will get them posted asap but I work on my own, often have a fair amount to post and I do pack carefully. I also post in the order that things are paid for.
Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 9 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world. If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (DHL / FEDEX etc.) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. Please note also that there has been a considerable hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail this year. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.
UK: 1st Class Recorded Delivery (insured to £50 only): £4.65 GBP.

This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country) and insurance.
