To keep it simple for us, we use our own standardized grading system for ALL used items. We have used this same scale whether we were selling records, comics, trains, marbles, glassware, or even classic cars for the past 9 years here on . Here is our grading scale:
Super = Almost Good as New Condition
Excellent = Above Average Condition for its age
Very Good =Average Condition for its age
Good = Below Average Condition for its age
Poor = Very Bad Condition
Super – Item is in fantastic condition for its age. It may have a superficial flaw but it is not easily visible with the naked eye. It was obviously loved by the previous owners, stored properly, lightly used, and very well maintained over the years.
Excellent – Item is in great used condition. It will work flawlessly. It may show a bit of wear from usage but will not be badly damaged. This item is in above average condition for its age. It was obviously stored properly, used gently, and well taken care of over the years.
Very Good – Item is in Average used condition for its age. It will still function as intended. But it will certainly show signs of usage. It may have some scratches, nicks and dings. But it will not be horribly damaged. “Very Good Condition” is what an item of that age will generally look like and perform like after being used for that period of time. This item was fairly well taken care and maintained over the years.
Good – Item is in below average condition for its age. It should still work but will not work as well as it did originally. It will have very obvious signs of usage. It could have cracks, scratches, dents, dings, chips, rust, and other signs of age that are blatantly obvious. It may need some work before it is functional. It probably was not stored properly and there was very little maintenance or upkeep over the years.
Poor – Item is in horrible condition. It will NOT function at all. It may only be worth whatever the scrap value is. This item may be severely weathered, broken, or only a part of the whole. It was not stored properly or maintained over the years.
