This 2016 Canada $10 1/2 oz. Proof Silver Star Trek Scotty commemorative coin ships to you in Mint fresh, GEM Proof condition in the original RCM Packaging. This is the second release in a series of four and has a low mintage of only 12,500 units.
The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) is Canada's Sovereign Mint responsible for producing all circulation and collectible coinage. The RCM uses silver refined to an exceptional purity, making their silver collectible coins sought after by collectors all over the world. This coin bears a $10 CAD face value and is struck on a 1/2 oz. .9999 fine silver planchet.
The coin was issued as part of a series meant to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Original Star Trek TV show. The reverse design of the coin features Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise, Montgomery Scott, as played originally by actor James Doohan. "Scotty" is holding the famous Star Trek communicator while wearing the classic (and possibly dangerous) Red Shirt. The original packaging features images of Scotty and the communicator.
The obverse design features the standard Canadian effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by portrait artist Susanna Blunt.
