Hopi Kachina Doll Sculpture
This Hopi Kachina Doll Sculpture is an exceptional, carving by Native American, Buddy Tubinaghtewa. Buddy used a large, single piece of cottonwood to create this spectacular display. Central, is a tribal male who is staring into the heavens, while he shelters a long hair & bearded kachina. He wears a jacla necklace and is accented with colorful, hand painted tunics. He included the symbolism for rain clouds, corn, abundance & life. About 26-1/2\" tall (includes wood base) & 9-1/2\" wide, it\'s signed & dated 2000 near the base. A unique concept, this combines ceremonial life & art & this Hopi Kachina Doll Sculpture is one of a kind!
Buddy (1962- ) is a nationally renowned carver who was born in Second Mesa into the Sun Forehead Clan. He is an award winning carver & has been featured in \"southwest Art Magazine\", \"Arizona Highways\" & \"Native Peoples Magazine\". He is referenced in Schaaf\'s \"Hopi Katsina 1600 Artist Biographies\".
