21" Early Old Antique German Long Face Bisque Head Leather Kestner Doll For Sale
I am pleased to offer you this 21" tall bisque shoulder head doll. I do not know her past history and or if any restorations were made but will describe her the best I can. Incised on the back of her bisque head is a number "10" down below is "F Made in Germany". Reference attributes this doll to J.D. Kestner, late 1800s, Waltershausen, Germany. Kestner is know for its high quality dolls. This is a bisque shoulder head with a longer look face, on old worn kid leather and cloth body with bisque hands from the elbow down. Her left hand fingers are "all" chipped off on the tips (see photo #10), the right hand shows second to the last finger chipped off at the tip. Torso is sawdust stuffed and "cloth" with the waist area down being a kid leather, usually the torso is leather so this is a little different. Lower legs from knee down are cloth. I do not see any sawdust leakage. Arms at the shoulders show wear and past sewing restorations. Doll has a beautiful face with expressive look, she has fixed open brown glass eyes, painted lashes around the eyes, heavily painted brush stroked brows, there are red accent dots in the corner of her eyes and nostrils. Open mouth with painted molded square upper teeth. A broad forehead and a "punched-in" dimple in her chin. Nice color blush on her cheeks I see no paint rubs. Looking at her bisque head there is a tiny crack/chip on the lower right ear (see photo #9), there are remains of old plaster on the rim of head from a plaster pate. Inside is a bit dirty with plaster cement that was used to secure the eyes open all the time. I see no cracks on this bisque shoulder head, just the ear chip I mentioned. Doll wears a replacement human hair wig thatfits over a pate on her head, it is gorgeous and long, a little too large for her but charming. Vintage period style dress is lovely with lace trim, but only stick pin closure down the front and back, it would be better with a little sewing restoration of adding tiny buttons. There are newer vintage pantaloons, half slip and older stockings but "no" shoes. This doll is a wonderful example of an early Kestner shoulder head and would be a "Treasure" for a collection or display! May require a little TLC but worth it! I have taken plenty of photos. Please look at my photos they will serve as part of this description. If you would like further photos or have questions please email me. Offering to you "as is" condition with sale. I do combine shipping and have many other dolls posted. Shipping costin the US would be $10.00 to $15.00 pending your location, outside the US priority mail international would be $49.00 and UP. I use plenty of bubble wrap and package well. Please note that Import duties, outside US taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyers responsibility. Thank you and Good Luck!
