24" Old Antique Bisque Head Composition German Dep Simon & Halbig Child Doll:
I am pleased to offer you this lovely old bisque head German doll. Incised on the back of her bisque head is " S & H, 1079, DEP, Germany, 12". Reference attributes to Simon & Halbig, 1869 - 1930Germany. DEP is a registered name or trade mark used by both the French and Germans. I do not know her past history but will try to describe her and any flaws the best I can. This doll measures 24" tall being a bisque socket head on strung composition wood ball jointed body. Doll is strung fine with all fingers intact, jointed at the neck, arms, elbows, wrists, legs and knees. Body shows wear, scuffs, some paint touch up I notice on the arms, hands but is all together intact.Beautiful face with smooth bisque that Simon & Halbig is known for. Doll has "fixed" open blue glass eyes, a little dark glue residue outlining the eyes I believe used to make them look old, painted lashes around the eyes, raised brush stroked brown brows, open mouth with teeth. Her lips are attractively formed with shading lines on the top and bottom edges of her lips. These shading lines are characteristic of Simon & Halbig dolls. Doll has pierced ears and wears newer vintage replacement earrings. There is a faint little dimple in her chin. I removed the pate from her head to examine and see lots of plaster cement inside where the eyes were secured to remain open all the time. I do not see any cracks, there is old glue residue on the rim and upper head areas from the pate/wig. Her human hair wig is old, worn but charming, possibly her original wig.She wears antique orange velvet dress with embroidery & lace accents with buttons down the back, it is missing a belt I notice belt loops. There is a brooch pin on her dress, she wears lovely slip and pantaloons, old stockings and worn shoes. Her shoes look handmade and are not in the best shape, you may wish to replace them. I have taken plenty of photos. Please look at my photos they will serve as part of this description. If you would like additional photos please email me. Offering to you as is condition with sale.
