Gorgeous antique Kestner 237 German bisque head doll circa 1890 ~ Kestner Baby Hilda.
Dressed in a handcrocheted navy-blue antique baby dress with an under dress and beautiful white satin bonnet with lace frill ~ all original and simply stunning. Her dress is in excellent condition with no holes or fraying.
She has beautiful blue glass eyes and her bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks or repairs, marked: made in Germany 237 JDK.
Hilda wears a blonde mohair wig which is in excellent condition. She has an open mouth with two adorable little teeth. She is in mint condition for a doll this old. Herlocher--200 Year of Dolls:Kestner Character Dolls, p. 132

THE WIGGED VERSION MUST BE MARKED 237 OR 245.THE SOLID DOME MAY BE MARKED 1070; THE WIGGED VERSION MAY ALSO HAVE THE NUMBER 1070 IN ADDITON TO 237 OR 245. 1070 IS LIKELY REGISTRATION only flaw I can see is some wear to the back of her composition body at the neck.She is a beautiful LARGE antique doll and in excellent condition. Baby Hilda, by Kestner King of Doll Makers, represents the pinnacle of German bisque head baby dolls\"HILDA\" is probably the most endearing of the Kestner dolls. She is clearly marked on her neck: Germany, 237, JDK. Her head has no nicks, cracks or hairlines. She has a plaster pate and a soft, blond mohair bob wig.Her hands and feet appear to be painted with red detailing , as is typical of German dolls.
