286.9g Vintage .958 Cast Sterling Silver Miniature Bull Elephant Figure C 1970's For Sale
Vintage European Heavy .958 Standard Sterling Silver Miniature Bull Elephant Figure circa 1970's
This Vintage Miniature Elephant Figure measuresapproximately 3 1/2 inches or 90 mm in total length from its tusks to its tail by 1 inch or 25 mm across the width of its body from side to side, it is 1 3/4 inches or 45 mm across the widest part of its head from one ear to the other and it stands 2 1/8 inches or 54 mm tall to the top of its head.
The figure is made from 286.9 grams of cast higher than Sterling .958 standard almost pure solid silver in the form of a standing bull African elephant that has been raised relief and engrave decorated to give the elephant its definition, the figure has Not been engraved witha previous owners initials or familymonogram and the underside of its body has been impressed with an unknown European silversmith or makers mark that is along side a European 958 standard higher than sterling solid silver mark all as photographed below, I estimate that this bull elephant figure was possibly originally made in Italy circa 1970's.
Thecondition isused and near Mint for its age.
The Elephant hasNo Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holesand No Repairs that I can find, the elephant stands upright, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the silver mark is still legible although as this is a used vintage miniature bull elephant figure it does have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with thepatina of age that is to be expectedand a gentle clean would enhance it greatly. Personally I think that this vintage African bull elephant figure wouldmake a superb addition to any cabinet collection and that it's a very tactile object to handle, I also think that the overall quality along with the condition is absolutely fantastic considering that it's around 40 or so years old.
This Wonderful Quality Vintage European Heavy .958 Standard Sterling Silver Miniature African Bull Elephant Figure circa 1970's is one of several pieces of antique and collectable silver that I have also listed.
