<div height="28px" valign="middle" face="arial" style="text-decoration:none"
<img is a Padre Pio medal that is 1 1/8" diameter, and it is a 2nd class relic with a piece of the vestment that St.Padre Pio wore in his monks robe. This came from a nun's collection who lives in Italy, and she had a collection of her most favorite Saint, being St.Padre Pio. But not only did she start collecting before he was a saint, she loved this great person who also was a very big part of Our Lord's Passion. St. Padre Pio lived with the stigmata for over 50 years, (3 days after 50 years) I believe that Our Lord probably let that happen so that St.Padre Pio would have the 50 years, instead of just short of....... Truly in my heart of hearts I believe this. St. Padre Pio was also a very holy & loved man of Christ, & had a very special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. St. Padre Pio never cried, or carried on about how the wounds of the Passion hurt him, or that he was uncomfortable about them always having to bandage them up so that they did not get blood on the "Host". Padre Pio always was praying, more then he did sleep, he prayed constantly, and you know what happens when you pray all the time, you get to be holy, loved, popular with the people, (it was hard for St. Padre Pio to hide very much from all the people who loved him), as he was never that far from anyone who wanted to see him. The Church was not that large, and St.Padre Pio spent about 12 hours a day hearing confessions! Can you imagine the pain, the depression, the uncomfortable position of sitting in the confessional for 12 hours at a time? Women, men, children always tried to get something from him as he came out of he confessional, pulling on his habit, grabbing his arms, tearing at his body, because he was the SAINT of the Century! Even before he was dead, people knew that Padre Pio was very different, and it was not just the wounds of Christ that made him special, he could read people's minds, & tell them their sins. When people really bothered him, he would wave his handkerchief in the air, as to "blow off" apestyfly or a bug trying to get to you. He was always trying to be a very dignified person, but the people grew in numbers and all they wanted was just to be able to have him pray for them, or their families, or to hear their confessions, and to see him perform the Mass for the people who lined up the night before the Mass in order to get a good seat in the Church. But there was not much of privacy for him, and he did love the people, tried to answer all their letters, even when he was not feeling well. But that was part of the price that he had to pay for being so well loved by all. There are just so many stories, and so many things about the great man who loved Our Lord so much that he put up with all of this because he understood their pain, their sorrow, their wanting to see, or touch or be with the greatest man at that time. It is said that St. Padre Pio was the most photographed person at the time he was a monk. So it was just part of being the one thing that the people could relate to. You have to read the books about him, and learn to see what gave people so much to look forward to seeing this great man of God. Good Luck!
