3 ANTIQUE CDV PHOTOS MID-1800s DOCTORS WESTERN RESERVE MEDICAL SCHOOL CLEVELAND :
$9.95

These are three antique CDV (carte de visite) photographs of early Cleveland Ohio doctors: Dr. Henry Herrick, Dr. William J. Scott and Dr. Gustav C. E. Weber. The photographs are 4 in. x 2.5 in. in size, sepia in color, and have names in pencil on the back. All three men had connections to the early Cleveland Medical College formed in 1843 which was incorporated into the Western Reserve School of Medicine soon after. CDV cards were used as visiting cards and were albumin prints formed by paper coated with egg albumin and sodium chloride, always sepia color and slightly glossy, and mounted on heavy paper cards. Many had a backmark (the photographer information on the back). Both the Herrick and Scott cards have J. F. Ryder/Ryders Photographer, Cleveland O. information on the back. The Weber card appears to possibly have been handmade with a blank back and slightly wrinkled photograph. Inexplicably, this card has a 3 cent stamp on its back. Please see all photos.
