3 Vintage Sterling Silver Antique Rococo Style Whisky, Brandy & Sherry Bottle or Decanter Labels
Each Vintage Decanter or Bottle Labelmeasuresapproximately 4 1/2 inches or 116 mm in length from the base of the label to the top of the chain when it is hanging by just over 2 3/8 inches or 62 mm across the width of thelabel from side to side and it is 1 5/8 inches or 41 mm deep from the top of the label to its base.
Each bottle or decanter label is made from sterlingsilver in a slightly curved rectangular shape that has a sterling silver chain hanging from either side of its upper body, the labels have matching raised relief and engraved scroll, foliated and shell Rococo style decorated outer borders around their central panels that have each been engraved with its own spirit name of Whisky, Brandy and Sherry, the bottle or decanter labels have Notbeen engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below and the lower front of each label has been impressed with afull set of matching English sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows,
AM over W - Anchor- Lion Passant - stylized D
AMover W is the Birminghamsilversmith or makers mark, the Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office, the Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard sterling silver and the stylized letter D is the date letter for 1978.
Thecondition is used and near Mint for their age.
TheLabels have No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs thatI have found, the labels are both straight, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the silver hallmarks are still clearly legible although as these are used vintage labels they have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patinaof age that isto be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that these vintage bottle or decanter labels can still be used today and that they would make a superb addition to any collection, I also think that they have a delightful antique look about them considering that they are 35 years old.
