These gorgeous composite dolls were made in Germany, in the 1920's, and are mint, and still on their original card. The Momma and Poppa Bunny dolls are made from paper mache; the little baby girl bunny is made from composite. Composite is a combination of sawdust, glue, plaster and just about anything else around. They are beautifully detailed, and hand painted with amazing detail. The Momma is wearing a wonderful dress with apron and silk tie around her neck, and holds the baby in a little bag. Poppa is wearing felt and cotton, and has a composite pipe in his mouth. Both Momma and Poppa are standing on cardboard disks. The adults stand about 7" tall, and the little baby is 2 1/2". The baby girl is holding a egg, with what looks like a chick hatching out. I love the German pieces - they have such dry expressions! They are minty minty minty, and were stored away from light so they are as bright and clean as the day they were made. These were always intended to be dolls - never candy containers.
