38 Ww2 Original Photographs, B-24 Nose Art, Bomb Damage, Miscellaneous German For Sale
This lot consists of 38 photos, every photo is stamped on the back side "DECLASSIFIED AND CENSORED, ALLAN HEALY, CAPT, A.C." The envelope these photos came in has a handwritten note on it that reads: "These Are Yours To Keep. Someone Else Took The Small Ones, I Took All The Big Ones, I Think Most Are Self Explanatory, Some Details Are Clear Under Magnifying Glass---" Under this note is the name "ALEX BREWER, PILOT" in different hand writing. The six smaller photos, the ones the person did not take himself, measure approximately 3 1/8 x 3 3/8 inches and have major German city names on them like Remagan, Breman, Munster, Brunswick, Essen and Arnheim. The small photos show mostly what appears to be bomb damage, bombedout cities, factories, etc. The destroyed bridge at Remagan is clearly visible in one of these small photos. The 32 other photos measure approximately 4 x 5 inches. These photos are of U.S. bomber NOSE ART (10 of these), formation flying and dropping bombs (B-17's & B-24) with exploding flak near the aircrafts in one photo, on the ground damaged B-17 (I think) with a very large hole in the side of the aircraft, a dead German soldier's grave with name and helmet, captured German souvenirs being loaded on an aircraft, bomb damage of various cities, miscellaneous German aircraft, etc. The photos I am showing are the most interesting I believe, the ones showing bomb damage of cities and factories are not shown other than in the first picture where they are mostly stacked. Most of these photos appear to be from a regular camera, not a Signal Corps cameraman. Some of the photos shows light exposure or shining on them, but most are very clear and quite visible. These photos are all WW2 vintage and almost 70 years old, but still very nice. These photos will be shipped in the original envelope they came in and wrapped in bubble wrap.
