4 Iridescent Green & Gold Leaf Pattern Fluted Handblown Art Glass Shades For Sale
Iridescent Green and Gold Leaf Pattern Fluted Handblown Art Glass Shades, Set of 4.
Slim art-glass shades with highly stylized green and gold leaf pattern crafted by a small, family-owned California company using traditional glassmaking techniques that Tiffany, Steuben, and Quezal employed from about 1900 to the mid 1920's.
This "tulip" begins as a clump of gold and green glass, rolled in a round wood block, blown into a mold, shaped, and opened on each end. The glassblower dimples the bottom lip with a fluting mold, and spins thin strips of green glass onto the hot glass surface. A knife dragged across the strips creates the feather pattern, and a tin chloride misting provides its iridescent finish.
Excellent condition. No chips, or cracks. As with all handblown shades, individual variations may occur.
2-1/4" fitter. 2" rim diameter, 6 1/2" tall, 5" base diameter, 8 1/2" circumference. Due to their delicate nature, these shades should be lit with 60W (or lower) bulbs only. For best effect use smaller, teardrop shaped bulbs.
