4 Original Hand Signed Notecard Pencil Drawing Sketches By Gerhard C. F. Miller :
This is a unique set of four original pencil drawing sketches note cards by Door County, Wisconsin artist Gerhard C. F. Miller (1903-2003). Each note card measures 4" x 5 3/4". The four notecards have been displayed as a set and matted and framed under glass. This was done in September, 1964. The frame is a simple black frame. The mat is discolored consistent with the age of the piece. There is a Museum of Art for Gerhard C. F. Miller in Door County, Wisconsin. This set was given to a friend of Mr. Miller's and it was passed along to his son after the father's death. The "son" is now in his 70's. It has been in the family since it was first gifted. The back of the frame has an attached paper with typewriting on it and it reads the following:
"These are pencil sketches by lifelong friend Gerhard Miller, who is now one of the leading water colorists in the U.S. and whose pictures sell to-day for from $1,500 to $2,000. These particular sketches are note paper and sell 24 to the box. He has a national market for them in all the good shops. Proceeds go to the educational fund of his grandchildren."
