The 2nd and3rd photos show 2 pairs that have half or more of their plating buthave the most scratches and the last photos show 2 pairs with barely any plating.Heavy-duty,antique door hinges made by,\"McKinneyManufacturing Company,\"ofPittsburgh, PAaroundthefirst half of the previous century. Each hinge is made of solid, heavy,thick steel.

The hinges were originallybrass, but some of theplating wore off over the years. The degree of plating varies from hinge to hinge, see, \"Group photo,\" to compare.We removed the hinges from a group of tall doors that we salvaged from an old,apartment building in Brooklyn, NY (see last 2 photos). At the point of salvage, the hinges were painted, dirty, andrusty (see \"Prior to restoration\" photo). Since then, we removed the paint, andcleaned them to the best of our ability.

Considering their age, the hinges are in great condition. Four ofthe hinges have some deeper scratches, but they are still only cosmeticblemishes and have no negative bearing on their function or structuralintegrity. The rest of the hinges have the typical nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on old, used hinges, butthere are no breaks, cracks, bends, or gouges.
