4 Pc. German Handcrafted Sterling Tea/coffee Set - With Case :
Cased 4 Piece Sterling Tea/Coffee Set with bonus tray and glass liner
German Hand Crafted
Its hard to believe, but after 15 years of dealing in silver... and the purchase and subsequent sale of hundreds of tea and coffee service, I had never seen a set that actually had its own fitted storage case. I'd heard of them... just never seen any. Then, in one week, we purchased two. One is a silverplate service available in another listing, and this one... a cased sterling service with a matching silverplate tray.
Offered for sale is a gorgeous German Hand Crafted 4 Piece Sterling Tea/Coffee Set with an added bonus tray and glass liner in a vintage suitcase styled carrying case. This set is in excellent overall condition - no dents, scratches or others distortions detract from the splendid reminder of days gone by. The lid hinges move freely and seat well.
The original owner purchased this set in Germany while she was stationed there as part of Eisenhower's civilian staff, tasked with bringing a sense of peace and normalcy to a war-torn country. Now, in her mid to late 80s, her confidence and bearing are every bit as impressive as her impeccable fashion sense and crisp verbal expertise.
I spoke with her at length... almost foolishly in awe at her retelling of some of her adventures. While in Germany, once the smoke and haze of war had diminished, she was allowed to rent a small cottage on the outskirts of Frankfurt. As tensions eased and some vestiges of prosperity were starting to return, she would bicycle back and forth to work. On one of her commutes, she discovered a small silversmith's shop in a back alley and over time, became friends with the proprietors.
She often stopped to watch them work, marveling at their ability to turn a shapeless blob of metal into a finished product. She actually watched them do the pre-form work on this very set of silver artistry.
If you study the photographs, you will see that the beauty and the quality of silversmith work are apparent.
I carefully wash and wet-polish every item by hand so I can objectively judge the condition of the items I am offering. This service was obviously a well loved heirloom that has always been treated with great care and respect.

The sterling that I am currently listing are not my property and as such, I am unable to make a 'deal' or entertain a 'Best Offer' scenario other than what is outlined in this sale. They belong to a friend who is in the precious metals business. He has a warehouse that is stockpiled with sterling items that he has purchased over the last 28 years of business, including more than 100 different silver flatware sets. With the soaring price of silver, he had decided to send them all to the smelter to be melted down.
Instead, I convinced him to let me try to offer them on so that they would not be destroyed. I know that there are silver lovers out there that wish to harken back to the days of genteel dining and gracious living. Besides, I have come to genuinely appreciate anything that is older than me and still survives.
Due to recent complications withInternational buyers and shipping policies, I will only ship via Express Mail International with full insurance. I WILL NOT alter the final offer price on the required customs forms.
