47 G Sterling Silver 4 Piece Ranger Buckle Set Fits 1 Inch Belt By Ben Becenti For Sale
This beautiful 4 piece sterling ranger set was made by a very talented artist, the well known Navajo artist Benjamin Becenti. The way this piece is signed is identical to how I've seen Benjamin's hallmark on pieces that are known to be by him but the work is a bit different than Benjamin's normal style.
The buckle measures about 2 ¼ inches by 2 inches at its widest points, is slightly domed at the top, and will accept a 1 inch wide belt. The 2 keepers are each a bit over 1 inch wide, measure over 5/8 inch from front to back and have about a ½ inch high opening. The tip fits a belt end slightly under 1 inch and is almost 1 ¼ inches long; the tip is less wide than the bucklre since the tip of the belt is normally trimed a bit so the sides of the tip are flush with the sides of the belt when it's put onto the belt. The back of the buckle is marked “sterling” and "BB". Total weight of the 4 pieces is 46.9 grams.
This set is made in the style of the classic “Ranger Belt” named after the gun belts worn by the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Rangers. Although the wide gun belt actually was buckled with a thinner ¾ inch belt this ranger set will accept a 1 inch wide belt making it perfect to put onto a dress belt to wear to the office or with a pair of jeans.
The buckle has a stylized stirrup shape and is decorated with stamping similar to the rays of the sun. The entire set is expertly made to the highest standards. The pictures include an example of how this set looks on a belt and the pictures are part of the description of this set. The belt is not included in this sale.
The ranger set is in excellant condition. It's is from my personal collection of Native American items.Be sure to check the pictures as they are part of the description and please ask any questions you have prior to offerding.
