5 AGOROT
you can find 5 agorot with a different name - "widows might", that is because of the story in the new testament
A widow gave a donation of the smallest coin to the temple - but for her it was a lot, for this is all she had to give.on the front - 5 agorot in Hebrew and English and the Hebrew year of minting.
on the back - the word Israel in Hebrew, Arabic and English,
with the small symbol of the state of Israel - a menorah and olive branches.
the center is a replica of an old coin - from the time of Bar Cochva, that writes
"year 4" (of the redemption of Israel) and there is a depiction of
a lulav (palm branch) and 2 etrogim (a citrus fruit) that are used on the Succot holidays.
Diameter: 1.9cm, Weight: 3g10 AGOROT
It is now the smallest coin in use in Israel.
on the front - 10 agorot in Hebrew and in English and the Hebrew year of minting.
on the back - the word Israel in Hebrew, Arabic and English,
with the small symbol of the state of Israel - a menorah and olive branches.
the center is a replica of a coin issued by Mattathias Antigonus (37 - 40 B.C.E.).
The menorah has 7 branches
(unlike the hannukiya that has 9 branches)
The menorah was used in the temple and was lit with holy oil.
when the Romans conquered the temple they took the menorah.
It is depicted on "titus gate" in Rome - next to the Colosseum.
The menorah was never found again - some say it is in the Vatican basements,
but it was probably melted down, for it was made of gold.
