6 Magic Lantern Slides Shipwreck, Moon, Stars, Sunset, Cavern, Lightning, Lilies For Sale
6 Magic Lantern Glass Slides, Late 19th, Early 20th Century
Depicting atmospheric scenes of Shipwreck, Approaching Thunderstorm,
Gloomy Cavern, Star-Filled Sky, Pond with Water Lilies
and a Sunset perfect for the ending of a Magic Lantern Show.
Six "American"-proportioned (3.25" x 4") glass magic lantern slides. The glass is intact and without crack on all six. The black paper tape holding each slide’s double layer of glass together is very good on 3 of the slides - the shipwreck, the approaching thunderstorm, and the cavern - a little abraded on 2 - the starry sky and the water lilies - and only present on two sides of the sunset slide.
Of the photos above, the first shows the six slides backlit, the second illuminated from the front.
First Slide Spectacular Sunset
A slide I’ve used at the end of some of my magic lantern slows as an alternative to a simple THE END slide. Everybody should have at least one Spectacular Sunset in their collection.
Second Slide Star-Filled Sky with a Crescent Moon
A nice slide to put at the very start of a Magic Lantern Show, especially if, like Alfred Hitchcock, you’re fond of opening by saying “Good Evening.”
Also a nice slide to improvise a “dissolving view” around, wherein you use two projectors aimed at the same screen and superimpose one image on top of another. It’s amazing what you can put up in the sky.
Third Slide Dark and Gloomy Cavern
With a little bit of light visible to the left, if you’re looking for a metaphor.
Fourth Slide Shipwreck
Very nice broken ship tossed on a stormy sea.
Fifth Slide Pond with Water Lilies in Foreground and Punt-like Boat in Background
Sixth Slide Autumn Day with Approaching Thunderstorm
Nice coloring highlighted by a sharply delineated lightning bolt.
In all, six very beautiful and atmospheric slides.
