Set of 6 (!) original Victorian picture hanging nails with decorative pressed glass caps. Lot includes 1 extra cap, as shown in first two pictures. A brief description of \"picture nails\" from a contemporary Victorian hardware website: \"Picture nails were very popular a century ago, and are currently making a comeback. Although most houses had picture rail moldings from which to hang pictures, there were always those places on stairwells and other places where it was more feasible to use a nail. The screw or nail is inserted, or driven into the wall, then the decorative cover is threaded onto the head of the nail.\"

Overall condition is \"excellent original\" with no rust, corrosion, or wear. Just some normal age-related discoloration of the brass surrounding the decorative clear glass \"button,\" which features a stylized flower design. Approximate overall length 2 3/4 inches (steel nail, minus cap, measures approximately 2 3/8 inches long). Cap measures approximately 1 1/16 inch wide, overall.
