Made in America! Carefully handcrafted here in Southern Oregon from hooks handmade in an old-fashioned wood fueled forge.
Help the environment by purchasing these up-cycled antique railroad spikes!
These are wonderful hooks designed from antique railroad spikes. The beautiful blackenedmetal creates anice wrought iron look. These high carbon steel nails were originally made for the Southern Pacific Railroad in the late 1800s (circa 1880s)for the steam train tracks. A very unusual usage that makes the perfect gift for a Railroadiana collector or old train enthusiast, these are rustic and primitive antiques that look great in an industrial loft, vintageapartment, hunting lodge, farm cabin, man cave, or garage shop.
Six holes pre-drilled in each for added stability, with matching screws included!
These are individually hand-crafted by our wood/metal artist, so some natural variation occurs- every board is unique and every railroad spike was actually used as part of the train tracks.
These measure approximately 25" long, 7" tall, and will stick out from the wall about 3.5". Hooks are set 4" apart and are 2" from the end of the board.
The spikes are about 5.5" long, with at least 1" clearance on the inside. The hook knobs are around 1.5" by 1.5" and usually taller than wide, but since being hit by a sledge hammer when installed in the railroad, then heated in a wood forge, bent, and drilled- none are exactly the same size. While no two hooks are identical, these sets are matched up very well and compliment the natural wood back.
All of these measurements can vary by up to 1/2", so please make allowances for this.
Please note: These hooks get washed and adouble coat of clear enamelafter the carbon coating to help seal the metal and prevent rust. However, they still have a rustic finish- these actually are antique metal, and have the patina to match their age. This may include left over wood ash, spots of rusty color, rough surfaces, etc. The wood boards are treated/coated on the front and sides, but the backs are natural pine.
