For your consideration is a 62-piece vintage partial set of Birks sterling silver flatware in the Saxon pattern with optional Reed & Barton canteen (sold separately).
All pieces are monogrammed on
the handle with what appears to be a scripted letter "G". Note that
four each of the 12 dinner and dessert forks have the unframed Birks
stamp, indicating that four pieces were subsequently added to the
original set of eight. These additional pieces are identical except for a
slightly different slope to the fork tines, but this is nothing that
could even remotely be discerned in a table setting and these are
considered direct replacements for this pattern.
Total sterling silver weight excluding the knives is 1629grams(52.55oz.Tr); 3466grams(111.81oz.Tr) including the 24 hollow handle knives.
Condition overall is very good to excellent; with a light buff that much better! This set is shown with a contemporary Reed & Barton canteen being sold separately.
