68# Of Bullet Casting Alloy (98-2) Fluxed -- For Sale
This alloy is the result of the lead that is produced a range we own and operate. We take the scrap material and melt it in our own custom smelter 500 pounds at a time. Since we get all the lead we can handle at the range, we do not use other sources of lead such as wheel weights, pipe, sheeting or others. This ensures that the alloy we sell is 100% suitable for casting bullets. It is not contaminated with Zinc or other metals which cause your mould to not fill properly. We've sold literally tons of this alloy and it has been well received.
Once in our smelter, we scrape off the bullet jackets, flux and then pour into our own custom ingot moulds. The result is a set of 5 ingots that will easily break off to fit in your pot. Unlike many online vendors who sell lead that has to be remelted to use, we designed our mould so that the ingots will fit into the smallest casting pot. The benefit is a pack that is easy to ship, stays together until you are ready to use it and easy to handle. To break apart the ingots, just put in a vise and bend with an adjustable wrench.
The result is lead alloy which is about 2% antimony and a minor amount of tin, usually .1 to .2 percent. The tested BHN of the resulting alloy is typically around 6.5 to 7 BHN. We conduct a "real" Brinell test using our in house analytical testing equipment . We have found that home kits do not provide true readings and strive to give the very best data to our customers possible.
This alloy is perfect if you just want some cheap, clean lead to mix with your own, or have some tin that you can add to make up your own custom alloys. If you cast sinkers for fishing, this stuff is the cleanest and most hassle free you are likely to find.
This is the largest amount of alloy that can be shipped through the mail using the USPS.
There are 4 large ingots and several smaller ones to make the shipping weight of 68 pounds. You will receive 68 pounds of alloy in the medium flat rate box.
