7.24.1863 Soldier Letter Civil War David's Island Gettysburg Battle 3000 Wounded For Sale
An outstanding, guaranteed authentic Civil War Soldier letter sent from David's Island New York. Unfortunately the envelope is not included and it is written to a friend from a soldier by the name of David (no last name). The letter talks about the Prison hospital at David's Island with about 3000 wounded rebel prisonerss from the Battle of Gettysburg and also talks about all of his units movements for about one month including the opening of stores after in New York City after the draft riots of July 1863 (the context of the letter is 1863 although the date is not in the letter). Talks about little Mac or General McClellan. A nice, exceptional Soldier letter with great content. the letter is 4 pages long on 5 by 8 inch pages.
