This is a finely knotted elegant 8.2x12.2 Antique Persian Lavar Kerman Rug , Hand woven in the 1930s or early 1940s,This rug is in Great condition (for its age). . There are no stains, no holes or tears, and all the edges are original. with normal care this rug will last another 30-40 years. The wool is very soft and the colors are absolutely gorgeous. RAVAR (LAVAR) is a small town 120 miles from KERMAN. The western trade designation \'LAVAR\' is an incorrect form of the name RAVAR, the weaving center situated in the southeast of IRAN.

RAVAR (LAVAR) has long been the origin of some of the finest Persian rugs. The historical explanation appears to be that, during the wars of the late 19th century, much of KERMAN was destroyed, and a large part of the population (among them many carpet weavers) fled to RAVAR (LAVAR).

RAVAR (LAVAR) rugs usually have extremely detailed designs executed with high craftsmanship and made to last a lifetime.
