Fabulous early Georgian sterling silver salver or waiter of plain centre with gadroon and shell border and 3 hoof feet. Fully and clearly hallmarked to the underside with the crowned leopard's head for the assay town of London, the lion passant for the sterling standard guarantee, and the date letter 'm' for the year 1747. Maker's mark: WP in a heart shape shield for the silversmith William Peaston.

A great piece in great condition, no inscriptions or later engravings and none erased so a lovely clean tray without 'waving' or 'thinning'. No repairs either which is a bonus on a near 270 year old example. No dents, no splits. Good hallmarks and good weight. A very nice early item.
