A FINE QUALITY 5 SPOKE LYRE FRAMED SKELETON CLOCK WITH PASSING BELL STRIKE
Hi,i have for salea lovely quality Victorian Skeleton clock that is fully working and comes with a key.This clock dates to around 1890 and was made by skilled clock maker of the period.The clock has a finelymade Lyre shaped frame and the cogs have five spokes not the usual four.The clock has a single fusee movement with a passing bell strike.This means that the clock strikes a single bell on every hour.Also this clock has an unused bell on the top instead of the normal circular bell.The bell sounds fine when struck and is not loud at all.I have taken the frame work off the stand and have cleaned and re oiled it (I don't immerse movements as this dries out springs)I have also gently cleaned up the frame and re silvered and lacqueredthe chapter ring.The clock has a good even tick and keeps good time.Theclock sits under a glass dome and the casemeasurementsare 161/2 inches high x 14 inches wide 6 inches deep.The actual clock measures 14 inches high x 8 inches wide x 5 inches deep and sits on a light blue velvet plinth.The base is black ebonised wood.I have had a good look at the clock and the three drive train pinions look like they have been re-bushed.The crutch has been soldered by the pendulum locator pin.There is a repaired crack on the glass dome at the rear right hand edge that measures approx 2 inches high x 3 inches across.This doesnt look bad and sits low at the side of the clock and your eyes are not attracted to the crack.The clock does look nice and has a good sway to the pendulum,also it is not loud and does not drown out the TV. The postage will be £14 tosend in two for England,Wales and some parts of Scotland intwo boxes.It will be £45 for some parts of Europe,£100 for the US and £150 for Australia.Many thanks for looking.(;O)
