A Fine Antique Silver George Ii Sauce Boat, London, 1754 For Sale
Description: A fine antique silversauce boat with scrolled handle, scalloped edge, and three hoofed feet, initialled 'I G*E'. Assay Office: LondonYear: 1754 Maker:John Munns Dimensions: 171g, 16.5cm (l), 8cm (w), 10cm (h) Condition(out of 5, where 3 is the average condition expected of an item of its age and function): 2 Fairly good overall, with very good, if partially worn/misstruck marks. The sauce boat has a couple of bumps and bruises: there is what seems to be a repaired crack on the rim (see above) and the body has one unfortunate double dent on one side (see above), a small flat spot on the other, and a couple of small dings in its base. There is some minor surface scratching, and the bowl has a few small spots of tarnish - it could also do with a good clean. The spout, handle, spout, and feet are all in very good condition, however - it is a handsome, well-balanced sauce boat. Returns: Every effort is made to describe each item clearly and correctly.
