A Great War Period Album of 274 Photographs, WW1 Trenches, RFC, Aircraft, Naval, Early 20th Century
This collection is rather special.For your consideration is this World War 1 album of 274 photographs plus several press cuttings, dating from the Great War period.A rare photographic account of the Great War, possibly by Baronet Captain Sir A. L. Lucas-Tooth (see listing photo no.8) or his family and certainly by a member of the Honourable Artillery Company.
The photographs are thought to have been taken around the Arras and Vimy Ridge area of the Western Front. Some straightforward research on Sir A.L. Lucas-Tooth would confirm this.The photos include poignant images of battle casualties, bomb damage, views across no-man's land, life & conditions in the trenches, military aircraft, sea planes and Royal Navy ships and submarines.Hugely interesting images such as a British soldier crouching to shoot at a battlefield rodent and others such as an evocative close-up of a finch perching on an exploded shell case.There are also a selection of newspaper cuttings about the Honourable Artillery Company, including photos of troop inspections by King Goerge V and Lord Kitchener.The photos and cuttings are mounted in a period photo album with board pages which is in very good condition commensurate with it's age.As usual, there is a low start price and on this item.
