A JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD CLOISONNE ENAMEL COPPER WIRE BOX C1910
This is for an antique Japanese Meiji period cloisonne enamel copper wire box, circa 1910.
Made of brass, the lid and sides are decorated with glossy kiln-fired enamel within copper cloisonnes, to depict branches of prunus blossom in shaded tones of blue, green and black enamel on a red enamel diaper pattern ground, bordered by blue enamel beaded edges. The hinged lid has a bow form clasp and opens to a blue enamel interior. The box has four spherical supports. This is unsigned. The condition is generally excellent, there are four small chips within the interior, the exterior is near perfect without any chips or repairs, showing the patina of age and use. Please see images.
